Kids Eat Free!

There's my favorite word again- FREE! I thought I would devote a special post to restaurant deals around the area. My friend Jen reminded me of a great deal at Fuddruckers in Lake Forest. For $20, you get 2 Burgers, 2 fries, 2 beers (or soft drinks) and 2 kids meals with 2 cookies for dessert! Right accross the street at Lucilles, kids eat free on Tuesday nights with the purchase of adult entrees; and they are having a $32 for a 3 course meal for 2 promo going on as well! (I also read that some Lucilles have Kids eat free all week- call first to find out!)

Here is a list of some more Kids Eat Free deals I found (near zipcode 92691):

Jerry's Dogs- Kids eat free after 4:00
Islands: Kids eat free 4:30 to 9:00
The Derby: Kids eat free all day
Newport Rib Co: Kids eat free all day
Boston Market: 2 free kids meals sat and sun only
Marie Callendars: kids eat free Tuesdays and Saturdays
Henneseys: Kids eat free all day
Pat and Oscars: Kids eat free Tuesdays
El Torito: Kids eat free all day
IHOP: Kids eat free 4:00-10:00

Most offers require the purchse of adult entree. Go HERE to check out the entire list of kids eat free restaurants near you! And don't forget to use coupons when you go out to eat!!!
Have any other restaurant deals? Please share with us in the comments section!!! Thanks :)

Vons/Pavillions Moneymakers!

Caley texted me yesterday for a heads up on an awesome money maker scenario going on at Vons! Right now, Vons/Pavillions stores are running a "Buy 5, Save $5" promo- and some items are also a part of the current catalina offers! Items must be in multiples of 5- limit 20 participationg items ($20 off) per transaction.

Catalinas:
Betty Crocker fruit snacks (select varieties) buy 5 or more, get a $3.50 catalina!
Post cereal (select varieties) buy 5 or more, get a $4.00 catalina! (The cereal promo is not a money maker, but ends up being a great deal!)
*There are cats printing for less than 5- but to get the maximin savings, go for the maximum cat amount!

Scenario:
Buy 5 Gushers (for example) 2.00 ea.
Save $5.00 instantly
Use 2 .50/2 ex 5/1 (or any of the many printables- use the database to find these!!!)
Vons will double the coupon up to $1.00
10.00- 7.00= 3.00- PLUS a catalina for 3.50= .50 money maker!
These are rolling cats so do the same above in a new transaction, just throw in a filler so you use that .50- like a pack of gum or candy bar (if you buy a nestle crunch, make sure you use that BOGO coupon haha!)
So the following transactions will all be close to free- just a little overage for that filler item! Word to the wise- don't clear the shelves! It is rude and not good shopping etiquette :) This won't be the only time a promo/cat combo like this happens!

Scenario for Post cereals:
Buy 5 boxes Fuity Pebbles- 2.50ea.
Save 5.00 instantly
Use 2 of the 1.00/2 ex. 4/11 (check out the database for more!)
12.50- 7.00=5 .50- PLUS a catalina for 4.00 will print.
Not a money maker, but is a pretty good deal for me! Do this twice (use the 4.00 cat on the next transaction) pay 1.50 oop and get another 4.00 cat- That's 3.00 for 10 boxes of cereal people!

Our Newest Addition!

I am happy to announce the newest addition to the SoCal Frugal Deals and Steals page- our very own Coupon Database!

At the top of the blog, you should see a small search box labled "Coupon Database." This database includes hundreds of internet printables and valuable saving resources! For instance, I publish a post about a great money making scenario on Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks (yes, this is foreshadowing my friends)- you can go to the database, enter "fruit snacks" or "Betty Crocker", hit search- and BAM! The database will pull up any corresponding coupons, including links (for printables and sign ups) or sources (like magazines, newspapers, blinkies, tear pads etc.) Use the side arrows to scroll up and down- you won't see the coupons in the window, but they are there! I hope you love this database as much as I do, it is a great way to save time searching for coupons you need!
Happy Couponing!

Rite Aid

After much hesitation (especially from reading so many horror stories!) I finally made a trip to my local Rite Aid. Well, local isn't quite the term here- if I get on the freeway, it's not local to me :) Okay- let me re-phrase: I made a trip to the nearest Rite Aid (which happens to be smack dab in the middle of Laguna Woods- a retirement community... need I say more??) Long story short, I made 2 separate trips- the first (yesterday) didn't go as planned- let's just say I checked out with an employee who didn't quite speak/understand english and did not know the coupon policy, and a rude manager who tried to help! So 2 separate (frustrating) transactions yesterday, and 2 more separate (smooth) transactions today (I actually printed out Rite-Aids coupon policy before I went today! I know I'm nuts! But at least I had back-up this time.) Here is the breakdown:

SoCal FDAS Reader Spotlight

I just wanted to share Alyssa's Walgreens shopping trip! It was her first "big" Wags trip- and by the looks of it- I think she did a great job!

Go HERE to see all the coupon match ups!

I ended up with $2 register rewards at the end of the whole trip, plus 4 or 5 CAT coupons for next time!
Coupon totals are as follows:
WAG Coupon Savings: $13.63
WAG Gift/Disc Savings: $2.99
WAG Advertised Savings: $36.11
MFG Coupon Savings: $40.89
Altogether, it was an interesting and very successful WAG shopping trip.

Looks good to me! Don't forget- you can stack a WAGS coupon with a manuf coupon! Or if you buy 2 or more of the same item, you can use that many of the same coupon. Also- on the buy a razor cartridge get a shave gel, you could use both the free razor with cart purch AND a coupon to save on the shave gel- you aren't technically buying it, but it will still work! Rule of thumb- one coupon per item (unless it stacks- then 2). Three items- use 3 coupons! BOGO promos- use 2 coupons- one per item! How awesome are coupons!?!?

New Grocery Circulars and Lists

Tomorrow is Wednesday (already?!?!) and you know what that means- new grocery circulars and lists are out- and the deals are HOT!!!

Vons and Pavillions are running a "Buy 5 Save 5" promo which essentially saves you $1 per item. Pair these with some coupons and you can get a few sweet deals! Some items include cereal, fruit snacks, granola bars, and even a buy 5 save 5 on produce items. It's a mix and match scenario, and all must be done in one transaction- but Im not sure if the produce and other items are interchangable. Saturday and Sunday only- get Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh meats for 1.99, Frozen bagged shrimp for 3.99, Motts apple juice for .99 (limit 2), Cheetos or Fritos for 1.29, and Safeway bread for .99! And don't forget that March is frozen food month- buy $25 in select items, get a $10 catalina! Go HERE to see what ideas the krazycouponlady has for the Buy 5 Save Five,  Wednesday is the last day of some Catalina offers which match up with this promo- so you could score a money maker! (Her post says "Safeway" which is the "parent store" for Vons and Pavillions- you may see it on many of the store brands!) Go HERE for the Grocery Smarts list.

Albertsons is having a HUGE sale on Keebler and Kellogs products! Raisin Bran, Frsoted Flakes, Fruit Loops, Nutri-grain bars, Keebler cookies- just to name a few- all 1.88ea!!! And just for Lent- every Friday through April 2, buy 3 Salmon portions, get one free! Go HERE for the Grocery Smarts list.

Ralphs still has their P&G markdowns in effect. Boneless Top Sirloin steak or roast is 1.99/lb! Fresh chicken breast, drums or thighs- .99/lb! Also some great deals on Progresso soups, Yoplait multi-packs (like Go-gurt, Fiber One, and Trix yogurt) and Betty Crocker cake mix 10 for $10 (1.00 ea.). Barilla pasta is $1.00 (use the .55/1 from 3/7 on one- it will double- you get it free!) Secret deodorant is 1.88 (use the .50/1 from 3/7- it will double- you get it for .88!) can you tell I am slightly biased towards Ralphs??? Go HERE for the Grocery Smarts list.

Organic Kids Clothes- at Great Prices

Happy Green Bee is having a major clearance on some adorable organic clothing! A great thing about organic clothes is that organically grown cotton does not retain toxic residues; it is a pure, natural, and breathable fiber, unlike cotton clothing, which retains harmful toxic residues, often causing rashes and eczema on sensitive skin.

I saw some button down cardigans for $7.00 (orig. $28.00) and some cute ruffle bottom tops for $5.00 (orig. $32.00- see image below) which are both amazing deals on such high quality items. Other items include leggings/pants (also below), kimono tops (these are to die for adorable- and only $4!) long and short sleeved tees, skorts, and beanies.

*Orders over $35 ship for free!!!

BIG News for SoCal Albertson's!

Ok, not big news, HUGE news! Southern California Albertsons finally gets doublers!!! (I hope you didn't toss your newspapers yet- they are tucked away among the retail store circulars, on a single page Albertsons ad.)

I have always dreamed about using doublers, and I was actually a bit jealous of the lucky coupon clippers who have had them for so long! (I may just have to convert to being a full time Albertsons shopper now...)

What are doublers you ask? Leave it to my two favorite coupon queens to explain:

Here’s the 411 regarding Twice the Value Coupons:
Albertson’s has In-Ad Coupons that can be matched with manufacturer coupons for additional Savings. Some of the In Ad Coupons found at Albertson’s are “Twice the Value” Coupons or Doublers. Doublers are good on any manufacturer coupon up to $1 in Value. So, if you use a $1 manufacturer coupon, and then the doubler- they will take off another $1. If you have a coupon for $1.01 or $1.50 etc., they will NOT (or should not) take an additional $1 off.

You may use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per item. Since the Doubler is a Store Coupon- You can not use it in conjunction with another In-Store Coupon. For example- If there is a In-Store coupon (in their ad) you can not use that coupon and a doubler- since that is technically 2 store coupons (just like you can’t use 2 manufacturer coupons on 1 item). If you are buying an item for $1.88 and you have a $1 manufacturer coupon- and a Albertson’s Doubler- THEY HAVE TO ADJUST THE DOUBLER DOWN TO $.88.  To make it simple- think of the Doublers as a stackable store coupon that matches the amount of a manufacturer coupon. Looking to score some super cheap or even free stuff? Think about the high value MQs you have and match them to items priced at or below $2.00! Or even items priced 2/$3.00 or 2/$4.00- and buy one! *If the manuf. coupon states "do not triple or double", these doublers won't work with them! The key is to use $1.00 off manuf. coupons to get the maximum possible savings!

Here are a few ideas for spending them this week:

International Delight Flavored Creamer $1.79
Double the
$1.00/1 – International Delight Coffee Creamer – (internationaldelight.com)
Final Price: FREE (doubler will be adjusted to .79)

Land O Lakes Chunk Cheese $3.49
Double the:
$1.00/1 – Land O Lakes Deli Cheese, 1 lb – (coupons.com)
Final Price: $1.99- good price for cheese!

Go here for some more match ups- thanks to thekrazycouponlady for this exciting news!!!

Birthday Freebies

I just saw this article on the front page of Yahoo, and I had to share!

The Best Birthday Freebies
by: Althea Chang

Birthday goodies from restaurants and retailers abound, even in a tough economy, and they’re not just for kids. There’s plenty of free food, free stuff and great deals for adults and kids on their special days, though, like senior discounts at restaurants, you may have to ask for them wherever you go. We’re not saying you should pretend it’s your birthday to take advantage of these deals, but if it really is your birthday, here are some ways to celebrate for free or on the cheap.

Black Angus
Unless you’re a vegetarian or allergic to beef, you can’t go wrong with a free steak dinner at Black Angus for your birthday. The deal is good for the two weeks before and the two weeks after your birthday.

Denny’s
Kids enrolled in the Denny's Birthday Club will receive a birthday card entitling them to a free kids meal and sundae at a participating Denny’s restaurant as long as they’re with an adult paying for a regular-priced adult entrĂ©e.

Red Robin
Red Robin patrons who join the restaurant chain’s eClub get a free gift for signing up as well as a free birthday burger (in addition to regular e-mail newsletters).

Coldstone
You’ll have to create an account on the company’s Web site and sign up to receive other promotions.

Baskin Robbins
Baskin Robbins is another chain of ice cream shops with a birthday club. It entitles members to a free 2.5-ounce scoop of ice cream and discount on a birthday cake, that is, if you’re in charge of buying your own cake.

Toys “R” Us
Toys “R” Us offers a small celebration for children who visit a store on their birthdays. Kids can get a balloon, a crown, a gift and even a birthday announcement to the whole store.

California Pizza Kitchen
Kids can enjoy a free meal at California Pizza Kitchen during their birth month by having their parents join the CPKids Birthday Club.

TGI Friday’s
Free food at Friday’s may vary depending on your location, but some patrons of this restaurant chain have reported getting a free appetizer and a free dessert on their special day. If you’re 21 or over, you can get a “Give Me More Stripes” rewards card, which entitles you to a free appetizer or dessert once you join, an $8 coupon for free food for every $100 you spend and other benefits.

Aveda
Aveda is offering a free gift for those celebrating a birthday when they visit one of its stores.

The Children’s Place
Parents can get a coupon for this kids clothing retailer on their children’s birthdays and their own birthdays by registering for the Children’s Place Birthday Club.

Burger King
By joining the BK Kids Birthday Club, children can receive a coupon for a free kids hamburger meal.

My personal shopping possibilities for the week....

-Ralphs for a few things (not too much going on there, just going to grab some cheap deals like $1.50 go-gurts, free cake mix and frosting, free salad, .24 frozen veggies, and cheap hamburger helper- thank goodness my kids like the stuff!)

-I didn't see too much to be excited about at Target this week (boo!), check it out here (thanks to TotallyTarget for the match-ups!) to see if anything tickles your fancy.

-Rite-Aid is having some awesome Single Check Rebate promos as well as a P&G promo this week- so I'm working on my list right now. If you are interested in shopping there, be sure to check out the drugstore tab at the top of this blog, and read up on Rite-Aid!

-I'm checking out Walgreens too, excited to see what I can do with those RR's I got last week :)

-CVS- another place I haven't quite warmed up to- but if there are some deals and steals in store, you can bet I will give it a whirl!

Don't forget- iheartwags, iheartcvs, iheartriteaid, and thekrazycouponlady- all great resources for drugstore shopping!Honestly- I am still pretty new to all of this drugstore stuff, so I'm just trying everything out a little at a time to see what I like best! If you find any deals or want to share your thoughts/ideas- PLEASE feel free to leave a comment!
